frequently asked Questions

1. How long does CARDIP spray film last?

CARDIP spray film usually lasts the life of the car, depending on how it is used and used. From the technical point of view, unlike conventional film (due to the adhesive), there is no time limit on durability. The durability of the spray foil is only influenced by mechanical influences. This means that the better the vehicle is cared for, the longer the coating will last. This also applies to paintwork, foiling and all other surface coatings. The spray film is very durable and usually does not lose its bond.
The spray film withstands temperatures from -50°C to over 100°C and thus local climatic conditions and the heat from the brake system, exhaust and engine without any problems. Thanks to special additives, such as four times the amount of UV protection agent specified by leading car manufacturers, the coating achieves a long service life and neither fades nor becomes brittle or yellowed.

2. What colors is CARDIP spray film available in?

You can choose from all colors that can be produced with conventional paint. From the standard RAL colors to the original colors of the car manufacturers, in combination with all possible effects such as metallic, pearl, candy, etc. There is also CARDIP® spray film in highly transparent for use as stone chip protection. Invisible and protective according to DIN EN ISO 20567-1, the CARDIP spray film keeps up to 90% of the stones from the vehicle paint.color selection.

3. Can CARDIP spray film be removed without leaving any residue?

The spray film can be removed without leaving any residue. Since no adhesive is used, the spray film , unlike conventional adhesive film, does not attack your original paintwork but seals and protects it. The prerequisite for clean removal is an undamaged original paint, as well as the correct structure of the coating and proper preparatory work. Residue-free removability cannot be guaranteed on repainted or damaged surfaces or soft plastics.

4. How do I care for the spray film?

You can maintain your vehicle as before. CARDIP spray film is available in both gloss and matt, resistant to all types of conventional cleaning: car wash, high-pressure cleaner, brushes, detergents and polish (only in the case of gloss). For safe cleaning in combination with reliable care, we haveHigh-end care products for spray film developed. These guarantee you a professional result with minimal cleaning effort, as well as the constant supply of care additives to the surface. In general, third-party and “sharp” cleaners (e.g. brake cleaners) are not recommended. Please test any third-party cleaner for compatibility beforehand on an inconspicuous area. In the case of existing damage (e.g. stone chipping), the spray film can only come off if the surface adhesion is interrupted by direct impact from a short distance on the affected area. If you are unsure about using a (cleaning) agent, please contact a CARDIP expert beforehand.

5. Can spray film be repaired if damaged?

Minor damage in the spray film can be repaired, both in matt and in high gloss. For this purpose, the severity of the damage must be determined by an expert. In the case of major damage, it is advisable to remove the spray film from the affected component and to recoat the corresponding part.

6. Does the spray film protect my original paintwork?

CARDIP® spray film is applied in a multi-layer process and thus achieves an evenly strong and seamless surface coating that clings to the surface like a second skin and absorbs damage to it. The CARDIP® spray film stone chip protection achieves a thickness of up to 200 my and is therefore twice as strong as the original paint on a modern vehicle. Tested according to DIN EN ISO 20567-1, it absorbs up to 90% of stone chips. Classic key scratches usually do not get through to the original paint. A fading is taken care of.

7. What can be coated with spray film?

CARDIP® spray film has been specially developed to meet the modern demands placed on an original car paint. In addition to entire vehicles, vehicle areas (e.g. roof, front end) and vehicle parts (radiator grille, mirrors, diffuser, decorative strips, chrome parts, plastic parts), any type of non-absorbent surface can be coated. These include high-quality plastics (e.g. ABS), glass, lacquered wood, chrome and structural plastic.

8. Does damage to the substrate have to be removed before coating with spray film?

Depending on the severity of the damage, damage to the original paintwork can or must be removed beforehand. Due to the fine structure, the spray film fits exactly to your surface and takes over existing damage. Therefore, such places should be repaired beforehand. The damaged areas can be treated in the same way as when preparing for painting (sanded, filled and primed if necessary). The vehicle or component can then be coated as usual. Please note that after removing the spray film, the primed areas reappear and the spray filmin these areas is very difficult to remove due to the rough surface. The usual stone chips in the paint can be left as they are. These are usually hardly visible after coating.

9. Can the spray film be applied to fresh paint?

In principle, the spray film can be applied to a fresh paint job that has been baked in advance. Due to the volatile content of a coating, we recommend waiting 2-4 weeks for the fresh paint to fully harden. A coating with spray foil can then take place.

10. How long is the processing time?

The processing time can vary individually depending on the project and effort. As with the painting, material-related waiting and drying times must be observed, the average processing time for a stone chip protection is 2 days, for a complete vehicle 4-5 working days. The executive will give you more informationpartner company.
